Welcome—Let’s Talk About What Really Matters
I’m Dr. Mitch Abblett, a clinical psychologist, author, and speaker passionate about helping people show up more fully in their relationships and their lives.
At the heart of my work is a simple but powerful idea: learning to own your moments changes everything—your relationships, your leadership, and your impact. My approach, grounded in mindfulness and behavioral science, helps individuals, teams, and families move beyond reactive patterns into a more intentional, unselfish way of living.
My book, Prizeworthy, was honored with a Nautilus Book Award Gold Medal, joining the ranks of transformative works from thought leaders like Sharon Salzberg and Joe Loizzo. It’s one of many tools I offer to help you shift from autopilot to awareness in your parenting, partnerships, and personal growth.
Here, you’ll find resources to help you own your moments:
✔ The Owner’s Manual to Relationships—a guide to mastering the dynamics of human connection
✔ Momentology—a framework for living, leading, and parenting with clarity
✔ Unselfish Living—a movement and social platform for living bigger and beyond yourself.
Explore my books, podcast, and speaking engagements, or connect with me directly to bring these ideas to your organization or practice.
Let’s get to work—because every moment you own, changes everything.

Prizing Over Praise—The Shift That Changes Everything
We’ve all said it: “Good job!” It’s automatic. It feels encouraging. But too often, it’s vague, pressure-filled, or focused on outcomes rather than effort.
Prizing is different. It’s not about approval or control—it’s about seeing, naming, and amplifying a child’s strengths, even in tough moments. It’s how kids learn to turn struggles into growth, rather than fearing failure in your eyes.
✔ Move beyond praise—so kids don’t just seek validation but build confidence from within.
✔ Shift from outcome to process—so effort, resilience, and learning matter more than perfection.
✔ Create deeper connections—so your child feels truly seen, not just evaluated.
“If there were only one skill you could learn as a parent, let it be prizing. It’s the basis of all the others. Your kids will be forever grateful, and so will you.”
